The Rossville, IN. area youth program; aka “The Rock” sponsored a community benefit concert; “The Brayton Cooper Foundation – A Celebration of Healing and Hope”, at the Rossville High School Auditorium on Nov. 27th at 4 p.m. The concert featured, “The Back Pew Praise Band” along with the “Rock” praise band singers. Key speakers included: Michael Gick, principal at RHS and Pastor Allen Weldy.
Brayton was a great athlete who received a full ride scholarship to play baseball at IPFW. He was only 19 when he took his own life a few short weeks ago. The concert featured two speakers that discussed depression, suicide prevention, and hope. Professional assistance was available for anyone in need. Free will donations were accepted and were made out the Rossville Presbyterian Church and memo’ed “The Brayton Cooper Foundation”.
The Rob and Tammy Cooper family are currently establishing a foundation honoring Brayton and have plans to sponsor future scholarships as well as other financial contributions to the athletic needs at the Rossville School. The Cooper family also has future plans to promote Suicide awareness, prevention and assistance to those in need.
